Fiber in Wheat Bran for Digestion

Fiber is very necessary for the body.One can get the fiber from any source, as all types of fiber are necessary. The outer covering of wheat or the husk is the best source of fiber as compared to that of almonds, chestnut, rice etc.

What is Fiber?

Before knowing about the fiber in whole wheat and wheat husk, it is better to get acquainted with the presence and significance of fiber in food. The part of vegetable which is edible and indigestible is called fiber, and is necessary for the body. It helps in the digestion of starch and gives vitamins and minerals to the body.

Husk Fiber

The fiber in wheat husk has health importance. The husk gets separated during the grinding of wheat and the inner white part becomes flour. The flour looks brownish due to the fibrous bran. 

The husk has undissolved fiber, called cellulose. It contains calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, vitamin E, B complex etc. 

On the other hand the finely milled white refined flour or all purpose flour or pastry flour is generally bleached and does not contain the bran or husk. It is soft and looks fine. While the common flour containing the outer covering of wheat is beneficial for the health.

It improves digestion, as its deficiency impairs the digestive system like stress and agitation. It is good for constipation and helps in the movement of the bowels. It is good for swollen stomach and lethargy caused by indigestion. The irregular eating habits disturbs the digestive system, but the fiber especially wheat husk or wheat barn controls and regulates the system.

Take 20 gm of whole wheat with little salt and consume with warm water for about a week, to get relief in cough. 

Mix sugar and almonds in broken wheat or wheat porridge or mash for impotency, memory loss and chest pain.
The kidney stones get dissolved when the water mixture of boiled wheat bran and gram is taken.
Even the vitamin supplements contain wheat husk.

We generally use the refined grains which do not have the outer layer on it. This outer layer is called wheat bran. It contains vitamin B1, B2, B3, vitamin E, iron, folic acid, calcium, phosphorus, zinc, copper and fiber in rich amounts.
In the absence of these the grain could not be as nutritious as it should be.  The whole grain is very necessary for overall health.
More Nutritious

In whole grain the wheat bran is not removes and has all the nutrients in it. It is therefore given to those who wish to have the healthy food especially the sportsmen, pregnant women, elders and children.
Diabetes
The glycemic index of the whole grain controls the blood sugar in better way than the white flour. The wheat bran slowly converts the the food into the blood sugar and easily manages it according to the mechanism of the natural insulin hormone of the body.
Weight Loss
The high glycemic index of whole grain helps in weight loss.
Constipation
The whole grain is the best source of fiber and is very good for the functioning of the intestines. The food should contain more fiber so that it could absorb more water
Healthy Intestines
To control the alkaline balance of stomach the probiotic bacteria needs fiber. The friendly bacteria break the fiber present in stomach to release the healthy constituents from the fibrous food. In the absence of fiber the number of these bacteria decreases and the stomach becomes acidic. The fiber reduces the risks of cancer.
Lever Functions
The healthy liver needs a food which should freely move in the stomach and should be free from toxins. The bran in whole grain ensures these conditions and helps in removal of toxic substances from the body.

Whole grain for Heart, Cancer and Longivity

A recent research has verified that the whole grain can help to reduce the risks of cancr and heart diseases. It is due to the presence of multiple bioactive compounds found in foods like Dalia. Such foods have rich amounts of fiber which reduces the cholesterol.

The risks of heart diseases get reduced by 23% and cancer by 29% if 7-0 gram of whole grain is taken daily. Besides, the risks of untimely deaths get reduced by 22%. 


These findings support the regulations of present food habits which recommend the intake of 48 gram of whole grains daily for long life.
