The lungs are the vital organs of the
body and need special care. The lungs purify the breath and supply the oxygen
to the heart which is then transported to the whole body through blood.
The polluted air and several germs would
enter our blood stream, if the lungs fail to perform their functions which may
damage the heart.
The following foods are beneficial for
the health of the lungs.
1. Omega 3 fatty Acids
It is beneficial not only for the lungs
but also for overall health. It is found in linseed and dry fruits. It is very
beneficial for asthma patients and gives relied in breathing problems other
symptoms.
2. Leafy Vegetables
The antioxidants present in the green
leafy vegetables remove the toxins from the lungs. So it is advisable to
include cabbage, broccoli and spinach in regular diet in the form of vegetables
and salads.
3. Pomegranate
The rich contents of antioxidants in
pomegranate help the lungs to remove the toxic substances and purify the blood.
It is the easiest source of antioxidants and helps in lung cancer too.
4. Vitamin C
The fruits containing vitamin C especially
lemon are the rich source of antioxidants. The vitamin C helps in smooth
breathing and carries oxygen to different parts of the body. Therefore add
orange, lemon, tomato, kiwi, strawberry, pineapple etc to the regular diet for
proper functioning of the lungs.

beneficial for the health. The antioxidants and allicin in garlic remove the
dust particles from the lungs and fight against infections. It alleviates the
swelling of lungs. The asthma patients should include the garlic in their
regular diet in raw or in cooked form.
6. Ginger
The anti inflammatory properties of
ginger provide safety for the lungs. It could be taken in tea or in foods. It
helps in pollution related lungs problems. Chewing of raw ginger is very beneficial.
7. Grapes
The flavonoids, vitamins, minerals and
antioxidants in grapes are very beneficial for the lungs. They save us from
several other diseases too.
8. Water
The water hydrates the lungs and helps
in blood purification. It removes the
toxic substances from the body and the lungs.
9. Turmeric
The curcumine present in turmeric
removes the lung cancer causing substances and alleviates the swelling of the lungs.

10 Berries
The intake of strawberries, blueberries,
raspberries and blackberries is also beneficial for the overall health of the

1. To control asthma eat few clean leaves of basil with a little
ground black pepper.
2. Chew the steam of Carom seed orr thyme or ajwain
for relief in asthma.
3. For respiratory disorders, chew basil leaves with little black
salt.
4. Wash and clean the basil leaves and put few seeds of black
pepper in the leaves and chew regularly to control the severity of asthma.
