Generally the unhealthy life style and deficiency of nutritious diet the problems of stress and headache is becoming very common. The prolonged stress and headache turns into migraine. The pain of migraine is unbearable and it is difficult to tolerate it especially in the mornings. It leads to nausea or vomiting. The pain of migraine remains there from few hours to several days. 

What is Migraine?

Earlier it was considered that migraine is caused due to the contraction and expansion of the arteries in the brain. But the researches have found that migraine is caused due to the disturbance or disorder in central nervous system in which the structure of the neuro- transmitters get affected and especially the imbalance in serotonine hormone appears. This leads to migraine. 

Types of Migraine

The classical and non-classical are the two types of migraine. The former is caused due to the vision related defects in which the symptoms of the vision of aura appear 10-15 minutes before headache. When the headache appears without aura or other symptoms it is called non- classical or normal migraine.
The normal migraine is very common in children and teenagers. The small children receive the fits of migraine in the evenings 
About 70% to 85 % of the total migraine cases reported fall in the category of normal migraine while the remaining 30% to 15% cases are of classical migraine.

Home Remedies for Diabetes

Diabetes is becoming a common disease in the modern world due to the irregular routine and the eating habits of the people. The numbers of patients suffering from diabetes are increasing day by day. There are some home remedies to control the levels of blood sugar in the body.

The people suffering from diabetes often complain about a headache, tiredness loss of vitality.
The levels of blood sugar increase in diabetes and this malady have no permanent solution. But the change in lifestyle, awareness, and improvement in eating habits help to control the problem. The patient of diabetes should be extra careful about the diet plan. There are several ways to control the blood sugar.

1. Add about 2-3 gram of turmeric powder in the juice of Indian gooseberry and take it twice a day to control the blood sugar.

2. Extract the juice of an average size tomato, a cucumber, and bitter gourd and drink it daily before breakfast in empty stomach to reduce the blood sugar levels.

3. The saunf or aniseed is very beneficial in diabetes. The intake of it after the meals reduces the blood sugar levels.

4. The Jamun or black plum or Indian blackberry is the most effective fruits in diabetes. Eating them with black salt reduces the increased blood sugar.

5. The plant of stevia is very beneficial for the patients of diabetes. It is a sweet plant, but the intake of it relieves the pancreas of insulin.

6. The intake of the juice of shatavari or wild asparagus is very good in diabetes when taken with equal amount of milk before going to bed at night. Shatavari juice is sweet in taste and it helps in normalization of blood sugar.

7. The regular intake of 2 tablespoons of margosa or neem leaf juice and 4 tablespoons of banana leaves juice is the best remedy for the patients of diabetes.

8. The extract of 4 tablespoons of Indian gooseberries and the leaves of gurmar or gymnema sylvestre also known as sugar destroyer, helps to control the diabetes and acts as a tonic for the lever. It supports the normal functioning of the beta cells in the pancreas and helps to regulate the blood sugar.

9. The plants of wheat have disease killing properties. The intake of the juice of the plants of wheat controls the blood sugar too.

10. The patients of diabetes should properly chew the food to keep the blood sugar levels under control.

11. The regular exercises and yoga are mandatory for the patients of diabetes.

12. The balanced diet is also advisable for the patients of diabetes
The blood sugar could be controlled by following these home remedies as they have no side effect on the body.

13. Take a ripe guava and bake it on flame. Peel and mash it properly. Take it with little salt, black pepper and cumin seeds.

14. Take 100 grams of seedless part of guava and keep it soaked in cold water for half 4-5 hours. Remove the cut pieces of guava and drink the water to get relief in diabetes.

Caution


It is advisable to consult the doctor as these remedies could not be the substitute for the medicines. These remedies become effective after long term use and could be taken along with other medicines.

Holy basil or ocimum is the most sacred plant for the Hindus and its leaves and flowers are used in religious ceremonies, prayers and rites. It is a very important plant in Indian Ayurveda system of Medicines since ages. It has the power to cure several ailments including the incurable diseases. Every part of the plant is full of energy giving elements. The incense coming out of the plant purifies the atmosphere, cleans the air and removes the bad odour from the edible things.

It is used for cough, respiratory problems, hiccups, mouth ulcers, asthma, fever, urinary inflammation together with blood and heart related several problems. It has wonderful effects in head, throat nose and eye diseases.

It helps in swine flu and the intake of 20-25 leaves of basil in empty stomach increases the immune system of the body. The intake of basil for 3 months is beneficial in cough, cold, fever, malaria, kala azar or black fever or dumdum fever, flu, respiratory problems, asthma, chronic headache, eye sore, heart problems,  high and low blood pressure, obesity, diarrhea, acidity, constipation, gastric, loss of appetite, proper functioning or kidneys, toothache, white spots on skin etc.

The leaves should be kept soaked in water overnight and taken in the morning in crushed form with sugar to help in breast feeding.  Another method is to take a tablespoon each of the juice of the green leaves of basil and corn with equal amount of the juice of withania somnifera ashwagandha and honey.

Caution

The intake of basil can have both the beneficial and adverse effects on health. So it is advisable to take basil in moderate amount. The excess intake of the leaves of basil is harmful. It has warm or hot effects and should be taken with curd or buttermilk to balance the effects. The intake of 10-12 leaves of basil a day is enough. It is a boon for the women but they should not take more than 5-6 leaves of basil a day. Basil should not be taken in pregnancy. The boiled extract of the leaves alleviates the pains during child birth and breast feeding.

Herbal Tea and other Home Remedies for Swine Flu

Swine influenza is also called swine flu as it is caused by influenza virus which emanates from the respiratory system of pigs. It spreads from person to person and could become an epidemic.

The virus enters the respiratory system and blocks the air passages.
Do not get panicked with swine flu and dispel all misconceptions about it. It is not a new disease, but is similar to the common flu caused by H1N1 virus. There are innumerable viruses in environment which could not be completely destroyed. But there are the ways to remain at a safe distance from them.

Not all but any of the following remedies will help in swine flu.

Symptoms

The continuous fever, cough, itching or pain in throat, running nose, tiredness, phlegm, diarrhea, difficulty to swallow anything, body pain, weakness and loss of appetite, sneezing, difficulty in breathing, nausea and vomiting are some of the symptoms of swine flu.

What to Do


1. It is better to take sufficient sleep, remain in well aerated place, take enough sunlight and eat pure and vegetarian food in moderate amount in flu.
2. Take boiled water, remain away from crowds, abstain from going near pigsty and avoid close contact with those having flu. 
3. Don’t try to stop sneeze, cough and vomit.
4. Cover the mouth or nose while sneezing or coughing.
5. Remain at least three feet away from the afflicted person. 
6. Always remain active and avoid stress.
7. Take nutritious diet. 

What Not to Do

1. Do not shake hands with suspected person and avoid embracing him.
2. Do not take any medicines without consulting the physician.
3. Do not spit in the open.

Herbal Tea

The herbal tea could be beneficial in avoiding the swine flu. This tea could be easily prepared at home. 


1. The herbal tea is prepared by making the powder by taking equal quantities of cloves, green cardamom, black cardamom, dry ginger, cinnamon powder, giloy or tinospora cordifolia, basil and black pepper. Add 2 gram of the powder in a cup of tea and drink it twice a day to increase the immune system of the body and to fight against the virus of swine flu. This tea could be taken in routine.

2. Put green or black cardamom and camphor in a small cotton cloth and take its incense regularly to avoid all types of flu like cold, flu, headache, fever and including the swine flu too. 

3. The intake of the hot extract of gentiana chirayita or clearing nut tree or bitter stick, anantmool or hemidesmus Indicus, dry ginger, turmeric, kalmegh or Andrographis paniculata, vasa or Adhatoda vasica and basil also helps in swine flu.

4. The steam of eucalyptus oil or nilgiri oil also helps in swine flu.

Other Remedies

1. Chew few basil leaves daily as it cleans the throat and lungs and increase the immune system.

2. Giloy or tinospora cordifolia is a very common herb and is found almost everywhere. Take about a feet long branch of giloy and add 5-6 leaves of basil in it and boil for 15-20 minutes till the contents get dissolved in water. Add bleck salt and black pepper to it according to taste and take it in Luke warm form.It is very effective to increase the immunity. The giloy powder is also available in the market as a substitute of fresh giloy.

3. A piece of camphor taken with water every month also helps in swine flu. It should not be taken on day to day basis.It could be given to children with potato or banana.

4. The intake of 2-3 fruits of garlic in the morning is the best and the easiest way to increase the immunity.

5. Those not allergic to milk can take it with a pinch of turmeric at night before going to bed. It boosts the immunity against swine flu.

6. Aloe vera or gawarpatha, the cactus like plant has a gel inside its leaves. The intake of a teaspoon of this gel with water boosts the immune system, makes the skin glowing and gives relief in joint pains.

7. The neem or Indian Lilac has the power to clean the air and is best for air born diseases including the swine flu too.about 3-5 leaves of Indian lilac or neem could be chewed daily to clean the blood.
8. To clean the lungs and throat, it would be better to perform the yogic pranayama or life force or air extension daily as it is related the passage of air in nose, throat and lungs.

9. The citrus fruits and vitamin C in them should also be taken. The best option is Indian gooseberry, orange and lemon.

10. Wash the hands again and again for about 15-20 seconds with soap especially before eating anything or if you consider that a particular person or object touched by you might be containing the virus of swine flu. The common hidden places of flu are the door handles, bus or train seats and arm rests, buttons of lifts and the railings of stairs etc.

11. Take fresh and warm food to keep the digestive system in proper shape.

12. Take sufficient amount of vegetable soup, lemon juice, musammi or Citrus limetta
or sweet lemon juice, water and turmeric milk.

13. Add black pepper, camphor, and cane sufar to buttermilk of cow and take it twice a day.

14. Avoid stress and remain cheerful as it will give internal energy to fight with the disease or swine flu.
  
15. The intake of hot extract taken from Mulathi, black pepper, basil and neem should be taken daily to get rid of swine flue as it increases the immune system.

16. The patient afflicted with swine flue could be given a mixture of camphor, black or white cardamom or ilachai to be tied in a piece of cloth and inhaled now and then.

17. The excessive use of turmeric also boosts the immune system to fight against the swine flu.

18. Boil 3gm each of neem or Indian Lilac powder, giloy or tinospora cordifolia and chirata or clearing nut tree or bitter stick in 100 ml of water with black pepper and dry ginger, till the contents are reduced to 60 ml. take this extract for a week in the mornings before breakfast to give enough strength to the immune system to fight against swine flu. 

Caution

1. The children, pregnant women, old people and the patients of asthma are the soft targets and their affliction with disease id dangerous.

2. Go to the nearest medical care center in case any of the above symptom appear. 

3. The advance treatment of swine flue could be dangerous and fatal leading to death. The advance treatment increases the resistance of virus against medication and the sisease could reach at dangerous levels and it may become an epidemic. In such cases there is little or no remedy. The better option is to take medicines under medical supervision. The medicines could be taken only if the test reports are positive.

Home remedies for High Blood Pressure

In the modern hectic life the people do not pay attention to the proper diet and daily routine. As a result their health starts becoming adversely affected. The recent researches have come to the conclusion that the high blood pressure or hypertension which generally occurred after the age of 40 has now started taking the young generation into its fold. The chances of high blood pressure increases among the people, who abstain from physical labor, avoid the exercises or yoga and take the fatty or spicy foods. 

The Symptoms and Protective Measures

The common symptoms are restlessness, excessive anger, panting on stairs, giddiness, increased palpitation and reduced sleep.
The people with above symptoms should regularly get their blood cholesterol levels checked.


Home Remedies


1. It is better for the people with high blood pressure to walk barefoot on grass in an open lawn in the morning. After taking a little rest wash the face and hands and chew 1-2 fruits of garlic and take the carrot or spinach juice to regulate the high blood pressure. Thereafter take onion juice with honey or candy sugar.

2. Take half tablespoon each of the powder of sarpagandha or Rauwolfia serpentine or Indian snake root and Indian gooseberry or amla before breakfast or in the evening regularly for the overall health of the heart.

3. Include cucumber, carrot, tomatoes, onion, cabbage, turnip, bitter gourd, papaya, pointed gourd or parwal or parval, tinda or Indian round gourd or apple gourd or Indian baby pumpkin, the root vegetable arbi or taro or colocasia, gram, sahjan or drumsticks, fenugreek or methi leaves, cholai or amaranthus or amaranth leaves, bathua or Chenopodium album leaves, mint, basil, ginger etc. in the regular diet.

4. Watermelon is very beneficial in high blood pressure. Eat the fruit or take the juice of it regularly.

5. Take the juice of sugar cane with ginger or take lemon juice or banana soup to reduce the high blood pressure.

6. Take the powder of white poppy seeds or khaskhas with onion juice and candy sugar to regulate the blood pressure.

7. The intake or orange, grape or mausami or Citrus limetta juice in the morning normalizes the increased blood pressure.

8. Chewing of the raw Indian gooseberry also helps in high blood pressure.
The intake of bread made by mixing the wheat flour, gram flour, barley flour, millet flour and corn flour is good for those having high blood pressure.

9. The application of the paste of henna or mint juice on feet and hands helps in alleviating the blood pressure.

10. The application of sandalwood paste on forehead also reduces blood pressure.

11. The intake of sprouted foods or grains is also good for the patients of high blood pressure.

The Health Benefits of Fennel Seeds

Also known as aniseed, it has several health benefits for the people of all ages. It contains several minerals like calcium, sodium, iron, potassium etc. It is very beneficial for the stomach ailments. The regular intake of aniseed removes constipation and helps in gastric problems.

1. Prepare the powder of aniseed with sugar or mishri or candy sugar and take about 5 gm of it with warm water before going to bed at night. It will save from stomach ailments and gastric problems.

2. The regular intake of aniseed increases the eyesight.

3. It should be taken in diarrhea. Chew aniseeds with the pulp of stone apple of bael for indigestion and dysentery.

4. Chewing a pinch of aniseed after meals helps in digestion.

5. Prepare the powder of aniseed, black salt and cumin seeds and take a pinch of it after meals with warm water as it is the best remedy to help in digestion.

6. During cough, take 10 gm of aniseed extract with equal amount of honey for instant relief.
7. In case of stomach pain it is better to chew a tablespoon of fried aniseed.

8. In nausea and giddiness, take the lemon water containing aniseed powder.

9. In case of bitter belching, boil little amount of aniseeds and take with mishri or candy sugar and drink it.

10. In case of burning sensation in hands and feet, the equal amount of aniseed with coriander seeds and mishri or candy sugar are taken and 5-6 gm of it is taken daily to get relief in few days.

The increased heart palpitation is a health problem and it should not be avoided. It means that the heart is having a problem in normal beats or the heart beats have increased.
A person can feel and listen to the increased palpitation in neck and heart.  It could appear like a nightmare.
Tension, stress and worries are the chief causes of increased pulpitation. It may also be caused by excessive intake of caffeine, alcohol, nicotine etc. This problem also occurs during pregnancy. In some odd cases it may be considered a dangerous problem associated with heart.
The severe feelings could not be taken to be the main cause responsible for it. But the possibility of the rise in the chances of increased palpitation occurs due to serious emotional feelings.

Physical Exertion
The heart palpitations increase as a result, if one has worked beyond physical capacities. The people doing regular exercises have increased heart palpitations.

Internal Changes
Alongwith external changes the internal system of the body changes with age and time. This change is more prominent in women in menopause, hormone changes, menstrual changes, pregnancy etc. The palpitation occurring duringpregnancy is a symptom of anemia.

In Some Diseases
The heart pulpitaitions increase during certain diseases, like thyroids, blood pressure, anemia, low blood pressure, sugar, fever and dehydration.

Overeating
This problem occurs in some people after overeating. The heart palpitations increase after the intake of food rich in fats and carbohydrates.

The Home Remedies for Chicken Pox

The rapidly spreading inflammation and itching followed by red granule sized pimples are the symptoms of chicken pox or vericella. There are certain home remedies for checking and curing it.

After the ending of winter and beginning of summer, the chances of the occurrence of several viral diseases like chicken pox, black fever or kala azar, diarrhea increase, if proper care of the body is not taken.

The children between the age group of one to ten years become prone to become afflicted with chicken pox. The disturbance in the eating habit or routine is the main cause of the spread of the disease.

1. Chicken pox causes great itching in the body and the jai bath or oat the flour bath is the best remedy to get relief from it. Boil 2 cups of oat flour in 2 liter of water for 15-20 minutes and put the water in a tub. Tie the boiled and cooked flour in a piece of cloth and rub it on the body in the bathing tub. It will alleviate the itching sensation.

2. Put half a cup of brown vinegar in water and bath in it to get rid of itching due to chicken pox.

3. The intake of lemon, vegetable and fruit juices also gives relief in chicken pox.

4. Put the leaves of neem or margosa in warm water and take bath in it for relief in chicken pox.

5. For speedy recovery of the pimples of chicken pox, take half a tablespoon of baking soda in a glass of water and apply on the whole body with a cotton swab and let it dry.

6. Add half a cup of apple vinegar in the bathing water to get relief in chicken pox.

7. Apply the oil containing vitamin E on the body to soften the pimples and to get relief in chicken pox.


8. Carrot is very beneficial in chicken pox. The intake of boiled carrots with coriander seeds helps in the weakness caused by chicken pox.the juice of carrot and green coriander is also beneficial.

Some people have the habit of continuously cleaning the ears with a cotton swab. They are always found cleaning the dirt or wax from ears. This habit could cause several bad effects. It damages the ear drum and there is a possibility of several other possible damages to ears. The people use several unseen things to clean the ears. It should be remembered that the dirt and wax in the ears should not be cleaned by anything available. It is dangerous and may cause permanent hearing loss.
What is a Cotton Swab?

 The cells present in ear canal form caruman which in common language is called ear wax. Instead of taking the help of a doctor the people use cotton swabs to remove this wax from the ear. But it is harmful to remove the wax by cotton swabs.

The cotton present in the cotton swab easily reaches the ear drum. The ear drum is very sensitive and may easily get damaged by little pressure exerted by the cotton swab.

Generally it is not necessary to clean the ear canal. It is during the bathing and shower that enough water enters the ears thereby loosening the ear wax.

The people having excess amount of wax in ears need medical care of a physician.
A little diluted peroxide is injected into the ears and the wax easily comes out. This process is painless and is a very effective method to remove ear wax. If the problem of wax persists, then the patient can perform the above method at home by taking direction of the physician.


It is better to consult the physician, if there is any accumulation of wax in the ears and ask him the right way to clean the ears.

Home Remedies for Ear Infection

The infection due to bacteria and virus is very common in winter. The ear infection is often caused due to bacteria and virus. The ear infect occurs when the mucus like liquid starts accumulating inside the ear. It is very painful and sometimes the hardness of ear wax also causes the ear infection which is treated by the physicians by the use of wax solvents.
The ear infection could be cured by medicines but the prolonged use of medications make the treatment ineffective.
There are some home remedies to treat the ear infections
1. Take 3-4 fruits of garlic and boil them in little water for 7-8 minutes. Grind them and add a little salt into the paste and tie the contents in a cotton cloth. Place it on the infected ear to get the relief.
2. Boil 2-3 fruits of garlic in sesame oil till they become black. Filter the extract and put 2-3 drops of oil in sore ear.
3. Take the juice of basil leaves and put 3-4 drops of it in the ear. As an alternative the basil leaves could be boiled in coconut oil too.
4. Fine chop the onion and cook it in a microwave for few minutes. Extract the juice of these onions and put few drops of it in the ear.
5. Mildly heat the olive oil or mustard oil and put few drops of it in the ear.

6. Mix the lemon juice in ginger juice and put 3-4 drops of it in the ear.

The Health Benefits of Sesame Seeds

Every grain of both black and white sesame seeds or til are full of health giving contents. It contains all the nutritious and healthy elements, except vitamin A and vitamin C. the black til is considered to be more effective than white or red ones.

They contain vitamin B, fatty acids, iron zinc, protein, copper, magnesium and calcium in sufficient amounts.

About 100 gram of sesame seeds contains 100 mg of calcium which is very helpful for the strength of bones. They give energy and warmth in winter.

It takes time to digest the sesame seeds and that is why the elderly people dissuade their use at night.

It could be baked or taken with brown sugar or Indian jiggery by making the balls of it.It could be mixed in salads and other recipies.

Besides boosting the memory, it improves the digestion.

The pregnant women and those allergic to sesame seeds should avoid the use of it.
It helps in anemia when the water soaked sesame seeds are fried a little and mixed in blender with water or milk and taken with brown sugar or Indian jiggery.

Chew 15-20 gm of sesame seeds in the morning and drink water afterwards to strengthen the bones and to get the shiny hair.

In constipation mix a tablespoon of sesame seeds in butter oil and take 2-3 times a day.
